About Alex

Hi! I’m Alex. I’m originally from California, and in 2018 my husband and I relocated to Zürich for what we thought would be a brief, two-year adventure. But like a lot of good things, it turned into something much bigger. Actually, it turned into a whole new chapter of life.

Adjusting to a new country definitely had its challenges, but so much about Swiss life just clicked: the slower pace, the work-life balance, and most of all, the mountains. I’ve always liked hiking, but here? I fell head over heels. I started hiking every chance I got, and over time, it became more than just a hobby - it became the way I really started to connect with this country. I may never be Swiss on paper, but out in the mountains, it feels like home.

I started my personal blog, wanderwego.com, to document that journey. Eventually, that led me to launch The WanderWeGo Co. as a way to help others explore the Alps with the same sense of curiosity and confidence.

Now I get to share everything I've learned: offering tailored advice, practical tools, and a local's perspective to help you feel inspired, prepared, and empowered out on the trail.

About The WanderWeGo Co.

Swiss hiking expertise for independent travelers.

WanderWeGo offers personalized itinerary planning and hiking consultations for travelers who want expert guidance without joining a tour group. I specialize in off-the-beaten-path routes, hut-to-hut treks, and helping hikers feel confident navigating the Swiss Alps independently.

Here’s what I bring with WanderWeGo:

  • Deep Local Knowledge: I've lived in Zürich for seven years and hiked over 300 trails across Switzerland, including dozens of multi-day hut-to-hut treks. This is the insider knowledge that takes years to build and doesn't exist in guidebooks. You can check out my blog to read about some of those adventures.

  • Truly Tailored Planning: I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all itineraries. I take time to understand your fitness level, interests, and goals before recommending a single trail. Whether you want challenging alpine passes, quiet mountain lakes, or the perfect multi-day traverse, your itinerary will feel like it was made just for you—because it was.

  • Off-the-Beaten-Path Expertise I specialize in Switzerland's hidden alpine treasures—Uri, Glarus, Valais, Graubünden, and Ticino. These regions offer equally stunning scenery, more affordable accommodations, and authentic mountain culture, without the crowds. If you're open to exploring beyond Zermatt and the Jungfrau region, I'll show you Switzerland's best-kept secrets.

  • Educational Approach: My goal isn’t just to give you a plan, it’s to make sure you feel confident once you’re here. I’ll walk you through how hiking in Switzerland actually works: trail systems, signage, local norms, and hut culture. You’ll also learn how to use essential apps, so you can navigate the mountains independently - on this trip and the next.

  • Real Time-Savings: The average person spends 20-40 hours researching a Swiss hiking trip. I condense years of experience into a personalized plan in a fraction of the time. No more Reddit rabbit holes or conflicting information—just clear, confident answers from someone who's hiked these trails.

  • Flexible & Honest: I offer different levels of support to match your needs, and I'm not affiliated with any hotels or tour companies. My only agenda is helping you have an incredible hiking experience.

Whether you're a first-time visitor or a Switzerland local looking to explore more, I’m here to help you hike smarter—and with more confidence.
